Our History

Bowles & Associates, Inc. was founded by Danny L. Bowles in May of 1994, and operated under the trade name A Plus Insurance Agency. A Plus offered a full line of property and casualty insurance coverage for customers in Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines and St. Bernard Parishes.

In August of 1999, Bowles & Associates, Inc. sold the trade name and book of business, separating from A Plus. Bowles & Associates, Inc. then began to specialize in “Business & Commercial” Insurance, which has always been a passion of the owner and founder. The company continued to grow by building a strong trust and business relationship with each client.

Bowles & Associates, Inc. then purchased and renovated our new office located at 2804 Belle Chasse Hwy. Gretna, Louisiana 70053. The business continues to grow and we still service our many loyal clients and welcome many new clients. Our business has and always ll be based on providing the best product and customer service second to none. Customer service has always and still remains the top priority today.

Derek L. Bowles

Derek L. Bowles joined his father at Bowles & Associates, Inc. as Vice-President in 2003 after graduation from Southeastern Louisiana University. Derek strived and was determined to learn the insurance business and with his determination to always excel, that’s exactly what he did.

The business continued to grow and then the worst natural disaster in the world struck New Orleans, Louisiana on August 29,2005. (Hurricane Katrina) Louisiana would never be the same. Business, homes and lives were lost. Within the matter of days after Hurricane Katrina, Derek was persistent about returning and operating the business, so that we could assist our existing customers and welcome new ones.

With the failing health of his father, Derek was appointed President of Bowles & Associates, Inc. Under his leadership and industry relationships, the business grew astronomically. Through his efforts, Bowles & Associates, Inc. now services clients throughout Louisiana, Texas, & Mississippi.
